THE DUBLIN CONVERSATIONS

A literary retreat/tour of a city steeped in literary tradition and ringing with language.

Eight days in Dublin experienced with an artist’s eye and ear. Daily morning writing exercises, observations and suggestions hosted by Claudette Sutherland included walks down busy Grafton St., through the Trinity College campus and up into the Guinness Tower. We crossed the bridges of the Liffey and wandered the eclectic Temple Bar district. The days ended in dialogue with Dublin artists like ourselves discussing the marketplace and the life of the working artist in Ireland—an in-person experience where we explored what we share across cultures through the artistic process. The evenings took us to the theatre, to some fine dinners, and welcoming company in more than one of the legendary Dublin pubs.

I will offer this trip again when the dollar recovers! (and Edinburgh, Scotland too.)

“I feel like part of me is still in Dublin, sitting down to a morning writing session with the previous day’s walking, reading and revelations bubbling in my hear. I loved the morning writing sessions—the slate clearing aspect of them, the anticipation of what was to come that day.”
